Steel Division 2: Blood Feud in Transylvania Description
Steel Division 2: Blood Feud in Transylvania is the sixth major expansion to Steel Division 2, a strategy game from 2019. It was developed by the creators of the base game, Eugen Systems.
Plot
Steel Division 2: Blood Feud in Transylvania is set in 1944, after the Soviet invasion of Romania and the country's subsequent alliance with the Allied Forces. Dissatisfied with this state of affairs, the Hungarians, still siding with the Axis countries, turn against their allies and launch an invasion to take over Transylvania.
The expansion focuses on one of the bloody encounters during the Battle of Romania; the Battle of Turda, with the Romanian defenders holding the line against the invaders until the reinforcements, led by Red Army troops, can arrive.
Mechanics
Like previous expansions, Steel Division 2: Blood Feud in Transylvania makes no major changes to the game's mechanics, offering new content instead. The core of the expansion is the expanded campaign; though Hungary initially has an advantage over Romania, the defenders start gradually taking the initiative and going on a counter-offensive. It's up to us which side of the conflict we play as.
The expansion also introduces new battlegroups; Hungary is supported by the 2nd Armored Division, 25th Infantry Division and the German Sperrverband von Kessel, a Wehrmacht Task Force. Romania, meanwhile, has the excellently trained Divizia 9 Infanterie, the diverse Divizia 8 Cavalerie Motorizata, their reserve forces and the Soviet reinforcements of Corpul 6 Teritorial.
There are some brand new units as well. Hungarians can command the Hegyi Lövész border guards, Zrinyi II assault guns, the Raba Vr self-propelled 76,5mm gun-truck and the WM-21 Solyom biplane. The Romanian ranks include the machine-gun equipped Calarasi Moto, Graniceri border guards, the speedy Ford V8 Sedan, eliet Vânâtori de Garda bodyguards, TACAM R-2 tank destroyers and Potez 63.11 A3 recon bombers. Rounding out the new units are Hungarian Lieutenant Ervin Tarczay with his Parduc Panther tank, and Romanian pilot Dan Vizanti with his IAR-81C fighter.
Game modes
Steel Division 2: Blood Feud in Transylvania is playable in singleplayer, as well as co-operative or competitive multiplayer. A new map, Oarba, was created with 2v2 encounters in mind.
Technical aspects
Steel Division 2: Blood Feud in Transylvania isn't a standalone expansion and requires the base version of Steel Division 2 to function.
