A free expansion for Star Wars: Battlefront, available only on PS4 with PlayStation VR. In contrast to the basic version of the game, X-Wing VR Mission is not a shooter in which the player controls various characters. Instead, the DLC the player takes control of the titular starfighter and participates in a large-scale space battle. A space destroyer, among other spacecrafts, also participates in the battle.
Star Wars: Battlefront - Rogue One: X-Wing VR Mission Description
Star Wars: Battlefront – X-Wing VR Mission is a free expansion to Star Wars: Battlefront. It was released on PS4 and it requires PlayStation VR to work. The project was developed by Criterion Games, the creators of the Burnout series. This company helped DICE develop the basic version of the shooter where it for example developed the sequences with speeder bike known from the memorable chase on planet Endor in The Return of the Jedi.
Mechanics
In contrast to the basic game, Star Wars: Battlefront – X-Wing VR Mission is not a shooter in which player is controlling various characters. Instead of that, he takes control of an X-Wing fighter jet and he participates in a space battle in which, among other vehicles, a giant Star Destroyer participates as well. The player must control his vehicle and shoot at numerous opponents. Thanks to the virtual reality technology he can feel like an actual pilot.
Technical aspects
The action in Star Wars: Battlefront – X-Wing VR Mission for PS4 is shown from a first-person perspective. The player can freely look around through the cockpit of his machine that was recreated with effort put in details. It all is complemented with sounds that are characteristic for Star Wars franchise.

Star Wars: Battlefront Series
A series of shooters set in the universe of Star Wars. Initially, the American studio Pandemic, also known for such productions as Full Spectrum Warrior or Mercenaries, while its publisher was LucasArts. Later, as a result of ownership changes from 2009-2013, the rights to the brand were acquired by Electronic Arts corporation. The creation of subsequent installments was then entrusted to the Swedish studio DICE, experienced in the production of first-person games and having such series as Battlefield or Mirror's Edge. In 2024, meanwhile, Aspyr Media joined the group of companies that officially put their stamp on the described brand.
