Welcome to the third installment of the hit Star Trek™ series, now set in the Star Trek: Next Generation™ universe.

New to this adventure is Dynaverse 3, adding the latest component to multiplayer excitement. StarFleet Command III also introduces the Borg race (playable on Dynaverse 3), adding elements to game play never before experienced in StarFleet Command.

SFC III Key Features:

* Large-scale, real-time, ship-to-ship combat and in-depth story missions

* Streamlined interface, plus improved ship management and maneuvering

* Ship customization and ability to recruit/improve officers

Star Trek Starfleet Command III is a game of tactical starship combat set in the Star Trek: The Next Generation era of the Star Trek universe. It contains a single-player campaign in which you can experience an epic universal conflict from three sides: Klingon, Romulan, and Federation.

In addition to completing story-critical missions while exploring the galaxy, you will be able to take on optional missions to gain prestige. Gaining prestige allows you to hire more experienced officers, buy better ships, and refit your existing ship. These options combine to bring you the most immersive single player Star Trek Starfleet Command yet.

Star Trek Starfleet Command III also brings you Dynaverse 3, an exciting multiplayer component that allows you to join one of four empires and fight alongside and against other captains for control of the galaxy. You'll be able to form fleets with your friends to raid enemy convoys, siege planets, and attack enemy fortifications. Each victory will bring your side more prestige to bolster its forces for future conflicts. Activision and Taldren have worked hard to bring the Star Trek Starfleet Command series into the Star Trek: The Next Generation universe, and we hope you enjoy it.

What's New?

Ship Customization

The new customization features of Star Trek Starfleet Command III allow you to load your ship with whichever weapons and systems you wish. A schematic of your selected hull type shows the hardpoints you have available in each category: Shield, Primary Weapon, Heavy Weapon, Hull Systems, Bridge Systems and Engines. For weapon hardpoints, the firing arcs of the hardpoints in the currently selected group can also be displayed.

Each hull type has a maximum mass available, which dictates the systems that can be fitted to its hardpoints. To purchase systems, you need prestige points. Prestige points are earned through mission completion in single-player and Dynaverse. In skirmish games, you begin with a set amount of prestige depending on the host’s preference. These points can then be spent on upgraded systems. Most ships contain multiple hardpoints, allowing you to place weapons in whichever firing arcs you wish. While you may choose to concentrate your firepower in a strategic area, your opponent may decide to spread their firepower out evenly.

Each empire has a wide selection of systems and weapons to choose from, and each type comes in varying strengths. You also have the ability to save and name your custom ship configurations for later use. These customization features offer an unprecedented variety of ship layouts, ensuring that you can design a ship tailored to your style of play.

Officer Selection

Your ship is only as good as its crew, and officers play a large role in Star Trek Starfleet Command III. The officers on your ship are each rated in skills related to their position. Medical officers are responsible for keeping your crew healthy and aiding with injuries, Tactical officers control your ship's weaponry, Science officers man the sensors, Engineering officers handle repairs, Helm officers control your ship's maneuvers, and Security officers train your marines for more effective boarding parties.

As you complete missions, your officers will gain experience, their skills will improve and their value to your ship will increase. Experienced officers can raise the damage yield of your weapons, detect cloaked enemy ships more accurately, get additional power from your warp engines, and more. In addition to completing missions to gain experience for your crew, you can also recruit new officers from Starbases by spending prestige points. The Officer Selection menu allows you to compare the various attributes of your officers with the available ones, as well as allowing you to transfer crew as needed.

Officers can be injured or even killed in battle, so keeping your ship in one piece is important. It is also important to keep a skilled Medical officer on hand to deal with any maladies your crew may face. An officer who can no longer hold his or her station is replaced by an inexperienced ensign until he or she returns to health or is replaced by a new recruit. By handpicking your crew to match your style of play, you can assure that your ship is working to its full potential in battle.
