SSX is a sports game produced by EA Sports, the theme of which is breakneck snowboarding. Players take on the role of members of the snowboarding team that challenged the most dangerous mountains in the world. The creators of the game tried to present both the spectacularity of this sport and the dangers that await the players practicing this sport.

SSX Description

SSX is the sequel to the popular series telling of the crazy snowboard races. This time the developers abandoned the joyful atmosphere of unrestricted fun known from the previous games and put empahis on a much more serious atmosphere, highlighting the danger and the struggle for survival that accompanies this sport.

The players assume the role of members of the team with unusual ambition. Most of them are already known from the previous installments of the series. These people travel the world searching for the worst conditions that Mother Nature could possibly create. Following their exploits, we will visit, among others, peaks of the Himalayas, where the air is so thin that you have to rush down the hill as quicky as possible, because the air is so thin that it is impossible to breathe. Another noteworthy site are the mountains in Antarctica, where the only way to survive is to keep to the sunny places, because in the shade the temperature is so low that it makes it impossible to move freely.

SSX includes a variety of gameplay modes. In one of them, the player has to schuss down the steep slopes in total darkness with only a flashlight attached to the helmet, while in another our task is to escape a growing snow avalanche. Another challenge is to slalom between the trees in a dense forest or schussing in a huge snowstorm which greatly limits visibility. There are also standard races or time trials in the game.

The developers prepared a total of 17 different regions around the globe. 70 mountains were given at our disposal which surfaces are randomly generated, although it should be emphasized that authentic topographical data and special technology Mountain Man are used in the process.

EA Canada prepared a number of social options - a special module called RiderNet, which contains rankings, replays, or special Live Events. An interesting option is also racing the ghosts who reflect the best times of our friends on the relevant routes, allowing you to increase your position in the local statistics.
