Sprint Vector is a first-person arcade game combining platform and racing mechanics. The game has been developed by Survios and is now available on PC and PS4.
Plot
In the game, the player assumes the role of one of the sportsmen competing in the titular Sprint Vector championship. All races are being watched by Mr. Entertainment, whose dynamic commentaries enhance the racing experience.
Mechanics
In the PC and PS4 release of Sprint Vector, a player observes the action from the first-person perspective (FPP). Before entering the competition, they have to select one of the available characters – one of them is DJ, a graffiti artist and at the same time a mobster. Then, players are tasked with beating the futuristic track as fast as possible and outrunning the opponents to the finish line – depending on the track, one can do this either on foot or in mid-air.
The races take place across diverse locations – one gets to visit ancient ruins, snow-capped mountain peaks, caves, and streets of the future cities. Each track is filled with obstacles one has to navigate through, ramps allowing one to perform long-distance leaps, sliding slopes on which the character significantly accelerates, and all kinds of power-ups, including traps (such as mines), weapons (one precise shot from an energetic weapon can effectively slow down an opponent), and temporary performance boosters (like the afterburner).
Sprint Sector has been developed for VR headgear and dedicated motion controllers, which are required for the game to work – a player can look around by moving his head, move his character by balancing his body, and increase velocity by waving his hands.
Game modes
Sprint Vector builds on multiplayer races for up to eight players; nonetheless one can choose the single player mode featuring special challenges.
Technical aspects
The PC and PS4 release of Sprint Vector delivers solid 3D visuals – the entire game features a cartoonish style that is quite easy on the eye. The entire experience is enriched with a dynamic soundtrack.
