SpongeBob SquarePants featuring Nicktoons: Globs of Doom

SpongeBob SquarePants featuring Nicktoons: Globs of Doom is another crossover arcade platformer, focusing on SpongeBob and various characters known from Nickelodeon's animated series. The game was developed by two studios: Incinerator Studios (responsible for versions on PlayStation 2 and Wii) and Natsume (edition for the portable DS console). The publisher was THQ.

In the game we get 10 characters to choose from. In addition to the main spongy hero, SpongeBob, we see Danny Phantom, Jimmy Neutron, Yes, Invader Zim, Plankton, Technus, Beautiful Gorgeous, Traloc, and Dib. All the unusual characters come from various animated series co-created by Nickelodeon. Also the locations we visit in Globs of Doom refer to the animated series known from television. We will visit such locations as Retroville, Amity Park and Bikini Bottom.

As you can see from the above list of available heroes, we will play both positive and negative characters. Each of them has a variety of unique features and abilities, which can be improved and developed at certain moments of the game. The common goal of the cheerful group is to defeat the evil Morphoids and their leader, Globulous, who are threatening the whole world of Nicktoons. For the first time, we can see opposing characters joined in a common fight against greater evil.

The title is a fairly classic platformer, in which we travel through individual locations, jumping, solving puzzles and, above all, fighting against funny opponents. During numerous duels, we can execute special, more powerful solo or team blows. In the latter case, both characters combine their skills and perform various types of double attacks. Specific abilities are also useful to overcome other obstacles. For example, SpongeBob will be able to lift himself and the partner on bubbles and Plankton will blow up the wall with a rocket, thus unlocking the further way.

An important aspect of the game is the ability to play in co-op. All levels can be completed with another player. Of course, in the absence of a partner, their role will be replaced by a character led by AI. The whole thing was developed in a characteristic, colorful style, using motifs from various animated series. The different locations are very diverse. The title also offers a large dose of good humor, which manifests itself both in cutscenes, but also in the remaining fragments of the game.
