SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom - Rehydrated is a remake of the 2003 3D platformer with adventure elements. The game was developed by Purple Lamp Studios and published by THQ Nordic.

Plot

SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom - Rehydrated takes players on a journey to the underwater world known from the animated series SpongeBob SquarePants, aired on Nickelodeon. SpongeBob, Patrick, and Sandy have to deal with the troubles caused by the sinister Plankton. The villain built a machine called Duplicatron 3000, with which he created an army of robots. However, his works got out of control, threatening to destroy the entire Bikini Bottom.

Mechanics

In SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom - Rehydrated the action is shown from the third person perspective (TPP). During the game, players can take control over three heroes, each with different skills. Moving through the picturesque underwater stages, players jump between platforms and avoid the traps lurking for them, as well as collect shining stars and face different opponents led by powerful bosses. Overcoming the latter requires reflexes and dexterity, as well as finding bosses' weaknesses.

Game modes

One can play SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom - Rehydrated alone or in multiplayer mode (both online or local). In addition, the game introduces a new game mode, based on the rules of the hordes, in which one's task is to fight against subsequent waves of opponents.

Technical aspects

SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom - Rehydrated differs from the original by its refreshed visuals adapted to modern standards. In addition, the authors have restored the content, which ultimately did not get to the original, such as the fighting Robot Squidward.
