Spelunky is an engaging platform game in which we explore randomly generated underground. Game was created by an independent developer Derek Yu.
We play as the spelunker who searches for treasures. The hero equipped with a few tools (including bombs and ropes) sets off on a dangerous journey through the randomly generated underground, filled not only with gold, but also traps and dangerous enemies. The player's goal is to collect as many valuables as possible, discover all the secrets and avoid dangers. Sometimes it also happens that we have to rescue other characters trapped in the recesses of the underworld.
A characteristic feature of Derek Yu's game is that all the dungeons we explore are created randomly. During each playthrough, the player faces similar but different challenges and must make good use of finite resources. Wrong use of available ropes or bombs can, for example, make it impossible to collect expensive items or defeat opponents.
During the game we face dozens of real (bats, snakes, spiders) and fantastic (yeti, ghosts) enemies. Fortunately, any self-respecting cave explorer can use bombs, guns, and even ancient artifacts with special powers. Some of these additions we find ourselves or buy in cave stores. To get all the tools you also have to do a little bit of work - many of them we have to put together by ourselves.
