Speedball 2: Evolution Description
Speedball 2 is one of the classic titles of the 8-bit era. Over the years, various development studios have tried to refresh the hit from years ago with better or worse results. Developers from Vivid Games and Tower Studios, supported by the creators of the original - The Bitmap Brothers team. The remake was designed for smartphones, but over time it has also been converted to PlayStation Portable.
Feature Background for Speedball 2: Evolution are games in a futuristic, team sports discipline, which is a mix of handball, American football, hockey. The player directs the actions of players who take part in spectacular Speedball matches.
The very rules of this fictional discipline are quite confusing. Points are scored after the ball is thrown into the goal of a competing team, but also for knocking down a rival on the pitch or using a special switch. Matches are played in two parts, each of which lasts 90 seconds. In fact, the play time is slightly longer due to the repetitions presented after the spectacular actions.
The developers of Speedball 2: Evolution tried to preserve the basic gameplay mechanisms of the prototypes, but enriched them with a number of new elements. There are a total of 336 players in the game, playing in 28 teams and struggling on 6 pitches located on four different planets.
The game offers nine fun modes - from fast games and tournaments to multiplayer competition. The most extensive is the main campaign - Career mode, which allows you to test your skills as a speedball team manager. The player not only directs the actions of the players on the pitch, but also takes care of the transfer policy, conducts trainings, buys appropriate reinforcements and after-burns.
From the audio-visual side of Speedball 2: Evolution does not deviate from the standards of similar products available in PSP Minis. It is worth noting that the authors at almost every step tried to emphasize the references to the original from more than a quarter of a century ago.
