Developed by Electro Phantom Games studio, an arcade racing game, inspired by the late installments of the Need for Speed series. The action of Speed Elixir is set in an open world, in which we will find mountainous and desert landscapes as well as highways, and each of the surfaces is characterized by different car handling.
Speed Elixir is a open world arcade racing game released on PC, PS4 and XONE, inspired by the latest installments of the cult classic series Need for Speed – especially Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit and Need for Speed Rivals. The game was developed by Electro Phantom Games, established in 2012.
Mechanics
The action of Speed Elixir is set in an open world, in which we will find mountainous and desert landscapes as well as highways, and each of the surfaces is characterized by a different handling. Over a dozen of varied modes had been prepared for virtual drivers, including classic races, time attacks or police chases (hot pursuits), so that every player will find something of interest. Aside from pure competition, thanks to the open world structure of the game’s world, we can just focus on exploration, admiring the views, and exploring further parts of the map.
The Speed Elixir gameplay places particular emphasis on fast driving and spectacular drifting on corners. The arcade driving system used in the game is also characterized by extremely sensitive controls, allowing to squeeze the max performance out of each car. The whole system was designed according to the “easy to learn, hard to master” principle. Thanks to that, the product of Electro Phantom Games can appeal both to the biggest veterans of the genre, as well as complete beginners.
Game modes
Speed Elixir offers both the opportunity to play alone, as well as different multiplayer modes. Similarly to the mentioned installments of Need for Speed series, both modes of gameplay have been merged, therefore allowing smooth transition between single player and multiplayer modes, without the need to stop the game.
Technical aspects
Speed Elixir, released on PC, PS4 and XONE is characterized by a high quality graphical layer, generated by an in-house Alpha Beast engine. The technology developed for the game allows for, among others, application of detailed car models, changing weather conditions, and a dynamic day-and-night cycle, as well as a whole range of modern visual effects, including HDR lighting.
