Spectral Souls: Resurrection of the Ethereal Empires, released on PC, PSP, etc., is a tactical Japanese RPG set in a fantasy world. The game was developed by Idea Factory studio.

Plot

Spectral Souls: Resurrection of the Ethereal Empires takes place in Neverland, a fantasy world which for centuries has been an arena of conflict between humanity and demons. The campaign starts some time after the triumph of evil forces. An army of demons benefits from the fruits of victory, oppressing humanity and murdering everyone who opposes them.

With each burnt village, humans' anger rises - they begin to form a resistance movement. Eventually, another war breaks out.

Mechanics

Spectral Souls: Resurrection of the Ethereal Empires is a hybrid of RPG and strategy. The player can lead one of the three factions - the human resistance movement called Simba, the army of the Demon Empire, or the Rozess Kingdom which tries to take advantage of the conflict to regain independence. Each faction has its own set of characters and unique storylines.

The core of the game is a map of the kingdom - we use it to choose which missions we want to start. Most of them boil down to battles. Of course, there are also classic RPG sections, where we explore locations and participate in conversations.

As befits a tactical RPG, we spend most of the time on battles. They are played in a turn-based combat system and we command a small team of heroes during them. The three armies combined have a total of 84 characters to choose from. Each of them has a unique biography, skills and development path.
