SpaceCraft Description
SpaceCraft is a sandbox game that combines elements of a space simulator with the mechanics of building bases and constructing automated production chains. It was developed by Shiro Games studio, which has in its portfolio such projects as Dune: Spice Wars and Northgard.
Story
SpaceCraft takes us into the distant future. Humanity has managed not only to colonize other planets, but also to gain access to the ancient technology of a forgotten civilization. After accidentally activating the Tripods, war machines capable of self-replication, humans triggered a war that brought them to the brink of extinction.
Unexpectedly, a signal was received from a distant galaxy, which contained the coordinates leading to a portal. Without thinking too much, those who managed to stay alive decided to fly through the stargate to give themselves a chance at survival in a new piece of space, away from mortal danger.
Gameplay
In SpaceCraft we view the action from a first-person perspective (FPP) or a third-person perspective (TPP).
Space exploration
The main element of the gameplay is traversing the galaxy. We can find planetary systems and asteroid fields, but also abandoned space stations or shipwrecks. The game allows us to pilot our ship. This applies both to navigation in space and the process of landing on planet surfaces. Even though the distances between celestial bodies are vast, the hyperdrive allows us to reach them.
Activities on planets
We scan celestial bodies we pass by in search of useful resources. After landing on the surface of our chosen planet, we can begin extracting resources and building an outpost. Over time, we gain access to increasingly advanced objects and machines (led by drones). They allow for the gradual automation of space mining and the creation of increasingly complex (and also automatic) production lines.
Constructing ships
The game also allows us to independently construct spaceships, for which we select subsequent components. Depending on individual needs and preferences, we can create both tiny units, whose small size is compensated by their agility, and powerful battleships or transport ships. We can keep our projects for ourselves or sell them to other players.
Galactic society
The galaxy in SpaceCraft is ruled by various factions. We trade our resources and products with groups willing to cooperate and do business, and we also supply ourselves with other useful goods from them or perform various missions for them. It is worth remembering that the law of supply and demand applies in space, and our activities and the decisions we make affect the prices of individual goods and services.
Space battles
In outer space, there are also enemies, such as the aggressive Astropirates. This means that sooner or later everyone has to face a fight. The battles here are divided into three stages: detection (using radar), pursuit, and skirmish. During dynamic duels, we must not only skillfully maneuver the ship, making use of its strengths, but also carefully monitor the temperature of its individual components.
Multiplayer
SpaceCraft was prepared primarily for multiplayer fun. Players can cooperate with each other, creating space corporations, or on the contrary - fight each other. The game also allows for singleplayer experiences.
