Gameplay in Space Grunts is teasiest to compare to the famous indie game Nuclear Throne from Vlambeer, except for fact that in this case we are dealing with a turn-based system. During each approach we play the role of one of the three members of the unit, who must reach the base and explore it. Of course, the task is very difficult, because there are many different opponents on our way, and after each death we start the game from scratch. In addition, locations are generated randomly, so you can't learn the correct sequence of moves by heart. Combat takes place in a turn-based system, and after each our move our opponents make their move. Therefore, although a lot is is happening in Space Grunts, the gameplay enables us to think and plan the next actions.

The game is difficult, every approach requires concentration from the player, but it also gives great satisfaction, thanks to the gadgets (destructive toys, explosives, various secrets) found during the game and various types of weapons.

Technical aspects

Space Grunts was created in pixel-art style, referring to various games from years ago. The game has its charm, and additionally during the combat we are accompanied by spectacular explosions and diverse environment.
