Space Commander: War and Trade

Space Commander: War and Trade is a simulation game by Home Net Games, a Krakow-based studio. The game puts the player in the role of a spaceship pilot. Game allows us to choose several career paths, including mercenary, merchant or pirate.

Mechanics

Space Commander puts the player in a huge open world and doesn't impose a specific goal. The player's task is to complete missions, earn reputation and cash. In the game world there are three factions we can join, each characterized by a different style of gameplay. Joining the Delta Merc we become a mercenary and bounty hunter. Membership in the Syndicate, an interplanetary smuggling group, will allow us to hunt for other ships as a pirate. We can also work in the Motus transport company and earn a living as a courier and trader. Carrying out missions for each of the factions increases our reputation, unlocking more profitable jobs.

The player has a choice of several types of ship, such as manoeuvrable fighters, tough bombers or transporters capable of carrying larger loads. An important part of the game is the choice of weaponry. Different types of weapons perform better or worse depending on the situation. For example, plasma weapons are effective against enemy hulls and ion weapons destroy shields. To succeed in battle, the player must use the right tactics, ship and weaponry.

With the money we earn we can buy space stations, which we use to produce resources and trade. We can personalise each station and produce different resources in it. Products can be sold using our transporters, further increasing our earnings and influence. Buying stations also allows us to explore further corners of space and expand our area of operation.

Game modes

Space Commander: War and Trade only features a single player mode.

Technical aspects

The graphic design of the game is quite simple, but pleasing to the eye. The most impressive are the ship designs and models.
