Space Cats Tactics

The protagonist, feline Captain Mitzi, does not yet get to live in peace - after abandoning military life he became a smuggler and a pirate. He receives a chance to change his life by accepting an assignment from a mysterious, high-ranking officer. Mitzi must deliver the technologically advanced ship Curiosity to the outskirts of space, evading the government forces chasing him.

Mechanics

Space Cats Tactics revolves around exploring the universe. Players traverse space aboard Curiosity, able to switch between an internal and external view at any time. The former is used to manage the crew, the latter to steer the ship. There are also plenty of conversations to have and decisions to make that affect the further course of events.

Space Cats Tactics is mostly turn-based - during each turn we have ten action points to spend on movement, combat or interactions. We'll use them to collect resources with our tractor beam, activate weapon systems, such as missiles and rockets, enable alternate attack modes (increasing our range, area of effect or other parameters) or hack enemy units.

Curiosity is divided into rooms, each of which serves a specific function - some are automatic, others require operators. Our task is to assign roles to our crew members, letting us use the systems at any time, using weapons or diverting power into engines. Used resources can be spent on upgrading and creating rooms. We must be careful, as rooms can be boarded by enemies, while any fires can quickly spread throughout the ship.
