South Park: Phone Destroyer Description
The AND and iOS release of South Park: Phone Destroyer is a mobile strategy free-to-play game featuring microtransactions. The game has been developed by RedLynx, also known for the Trials video game series.
Plot
As the title suggests, the game is based on the famous, yet controversial animated TV series for adults – South Park. The plot of the game is relatively simple – children we know from the TV series decide to play “cowboys and Indians”, however, as one might expect, everything slips out of control and the initial rules are being more and more bent, until the police has to intervene in order to stop this chaos.
Developers prepared an elaborate story campaign filled with jokes written by the TV series’ creators – Trey Parker and Matt Stone.
Mechanics
In terms of gameplay mechanics, the AND and iOS release of South Park: Phone Destroyer is a simple strategy game. The entire game revolves around real-time battles between two factions fighting each other from the opposite sides of the screen. Each faction spawns onto the battlefield new characters, which immediately advance on the enemy units.
Additionally, the whole experience features certain deck-building elements – during the game players collect cards with different characters known from the TV series, and, after playing them in combat phase, can summon these characters onto the battlefield. In total, the game features over 80 characters, all of which can be leveled up.
Game modes
South Park: Phone Destroyer offers online skirmishes in which one can face other players, as well as an extensive story campaign, which, apart from standard battles, gives us the opportunity to fight powerful bosses.
Technical aspects
The 2D visuals are a clear reference to those featured on the original TV series.
