Mechanics

Source of Madness is an action adventure game in which the world presented is viewed from the side-scrolling perspective. The gameplay consists of exploring the locations (we have a number of different locations - from a regular forest, through the moon and other planets, to the dark citadel of R'Lyeh) and fighting the opponents.

The game belongs to the roguelite sub-genre. Randomness plays an important role in it, thanks to which each approach looks slightly different. Interestingly, both locations and... monsters are changing. The beasts are generated from a set of random pieces that merge together and function on the basis of a system of physics - the result is a surrealistic monster tentacles that seem to have difficulty moving the game world. During the journey, we may also come across one of several powerful bosses.

Magic plays an important role in the Source of Madness combat system. Our character can use a number of spells that we can put together in powerful combinations. The repertoire will include something tailored to each style of play (the game also allows you to customize the hero's class by choosing from several available options).

During the course of the game we also gradually increase the skills of the protagonist and learn new spells (this requires sacrificing enemy blood on special altars).

Game modes

We can only play Source of Madness alone. The core of the game is the single player mode.

Technical aspects

Source of Madness offers quite an interesting, two-dimensional graphic design. The graphics are kept in a unique, gloomy style - dark colours and very twisted, scary, but also ingenious designs of locations and characters dominate here. All this is complemented by atmospheric lighting and soundtrack.
