Soul Gambler is a visual novel narrative adventure game from the independent team at Tlön Studios. The game was published on PC by Gamestorming, and its creation was possible thanks to a successful fundraising campaign on Kickstarter.

Story

The source of inspiration for the story told in Soul Gambler was Johann Wolfgang von Goethe's Faust. Players take on the role of Faust, who works as an accountant. One day a mysterious stranger appears in front of the character, making a proposal that is difficult to reject - in exchange for selling fragments of his soul, he will be able to fulfill any wishes. It is now up to the player to decide how his future fate will unfold - the story has a non-linear course, and the decisions made by the player lead to one of several endings.

Mechanics

Soul Gambler follows the proven game play formula used by visual novels. In the course of the game, our role boils down to following the adventures of the protagonist - in certain places we make decisions, many of which determine the path to be followed by Faust. Due to the fact that the hero encounters more or less complications on his way, in many cases we can choose between a standard solution to the problem or the use of supernatural forces (for a fee, of course). It is worth noting that although the completion of the game is a task for about two hours, thanks to the non-linear structure it is characterized by high replayability.

Technical aspects

Soul Gambler's two-dimensional graphics are of high quality - the game is made to look like an interactive comic book, which is manifested both through the characteristic, hand-drawn visuals and through the interface.
