Sonzai is a production on the verge of adventure games and action RPGs. The game was developed by an independent two-person studio 2 Odd Diodes from Kolkata and published by Top Hat Studios.

Plot

Sonzai takes us on a journey to the fantastic city of Kumotoshi, where magicians come from all over the world. The main character of the game is a girl who comes here in search of new life. The protagonist learns in a magical profession, makes new contacts, and with time begins to explore the secrets of the metropolis.

Mechanics

In Sonzai the action was shown on the side. During the game we accompany the heroine in her daily activities, taking part in magic lessons and talking to the characters we meet. In this way, it makes new acquaintances and deepens relations with people she has already met. Each citizen has his or her own personality and history.

Discovering the secrets hidden by Kumotoshi is risky, especially on the outskirts of a metropolis controlled by a dangerous magical force, because we often have to face various enemies. The battles are dynamic, and during them we make use of a wide range of attacks, combining them into spectacular and powerful combos. Interestingly, the relationships made by the heroine influence both the plot and the protagonist's abilities; her combat potential largely determines who she deals with. In addition, as we progress, we gain better equipment, runes divided into passive (providing the heroine with various buffas) and active (powerful spells requiring manual use), as well as special modules that affect the girl in different ways.
