An adventure gamebook with RPG elements for mobile devices. Sons of Uruzime was inspired by stories by Howard Philips Lovecraft and utilizes many motives from the Cthulhu Mythos. You play as a University of Miskatonic professor, who receives a letter from a missing student. The student warns the professor against a dark cult involving much of the university's staff. The story is shown mostly via text with occasional pictures.
Sons of Uruzime, released on iOS and AND, is a paragraph adventure game with RPG elements. The production was originally released as a paper book. The mobile version was developed by Tin Man Games studio.
Plot
Sons of Uruzime was inspired by short stories and novels by American writer Howard Philips Lovecraft and draws from the Cthulhu mythos. The player takes on the role of a professor at the University of Miskatonic. He receives a letter from a student named Philip Lewis, who had disappeared in mysterious circumstances a few days earlier. The letter warns him about a cult that includes many university academics. The hero decides to start his own investigation.
Mechanics
Sons of Uruzime is a classic paragraph game using the technology provided by modern mobile devices. The plot is presented mainly in the form of a text narrative, supplemented by occasional pictures. The player has to make decisions regularly, choosing from several alternative actions that will alter the plot.
Sons of Uruzime offers a lot of freedom in shaping the plot - to learn all the plot points, you will have to make several playthroughs. The gameplay is enriched with RPG elements. There aren't any fights here (which is in line with the style of Lovecraft stories), but our character is equipped with a number of characteristics and skills that are used to calculate the probability of success of each action. Of course, we can develop all these statistics by spending the accumulated experience points. The game also has a sanity system - many things happening in the game will leave their mark on the hero.
