Soma Bringer is a typical action-oriented cRPG. The title was released by Nintendo, while Monolith Software studio, with many similar Japanese games on their account.
The action takes place in a world where Soma exists - a magical energy. The virtual continent of Barnea is ruled by people who are part of the organisation responsible for keeping Soma in an unstable balance. With the invasion of the land of enemy aliens, they have decided to create a military unit called Pharzuph in order to repel the invaders. The plot focuses on several members of the Seventh Division of the Pharzuph army. During a regular mission they find a mysterious girl named Idea. As it turns out, this discovery determines their further fate in the ongoing war.
The game boils down to exploring the terrain and engaging in battles with attackers. The player controls one hero at a time, while the others obediently follow him. They are defined by four statistics: Strength, Magic, Health and Skill. We increase them by gaining experience points and special character points. In addition, Soma Bringer offers seven different character classes: Battlers, Koas, Darks, Gunners, Kanbus and Somas. Each of them is characterized by a different fighting style, for example, one uses arches and the other uses two-handed swords. As the plot develops, we gain Capability Points that we can allocate to the weapons we use.
The character of the fight also depends on the choice of class. This is very important because real-time battles are a great attraction here. The system of clashes has been thought through in a simple way. Each action has a different button, e.g. X is responsible for a normal attack and Y is responsible for using the spell. Also helpful is the implemented Break System mechanism, which rewards us when we concentrate attacks and combo on one opponent. Thanks to this, after three effective blows he becomes even more vulnerable to damage.
The graphics were designed in Japanese, manga style. The environment and character models consist of many colorful elements. During combat, the top screen of the console usually runs the right action, while the bottom display shows the statistics of our heroes, as well as a mini-map.
It is worth mentioning that there is also a multiplayer option. Together with friends we can create a team of three people, which we will set out to conquer the dungeons.
