Slipways is a mix of a science fiction strategy and economic game and a puzzle game, in which each procedurally generated gameplay closes in 60 minutes. The game was developed by Beetlewing studio.

Slipways is a procedurally generated space game in which we colonise planets, create trade chains and develop ourselves to get the best possible results in a single game lasting about 60 minutes. All this makes Slipways belong to the group of strategy-economic games and puzzle games simultaneously, and it puts a strong emphasis on replayability. The game was developed and published by the independent Beetlewing studio.

Mechanics

Slipways is a strategy game where you won't experience micromanagement or skirmishes with enemies, as it focuses on creating an effective trade chain between various planets in space. Our task is to colonise planets and decide what industry they will specialise in. Then, which also fits into the puzzle scheme, we have to connect the inhabited planets with each other so as to derive the greatest economic benefit from it.

Each new game in Slipways is procedurally generated and takes about an hour to complete. However, the developers focus on replayability, because in addition to randomly located planets during a single game we have access to 10 technological upgrades from a pool of over 80 of them. In addition, with each new game we face different threats and challenges in the form of cosmic rifts or supernovae that can thwart our plans. Protection against them will often require us to recruit units from the inhabitants of our planets, and each of them differs not only in appearance and outlook, but also other abilities and development trees.
