Browser version of the famous series of economic games addressed to Facebook users. We play the role of mayor and direct the expansion of the city from the moment of building the first house to the huge metropolis.
Note: on the 14th of June, 2013, Electronic Arts closed the game and stopped its further development and support.
SimCity Social is a browser edition of the popular economic game series launched in 1989. The players assume the role of a governor of a city who makes decisions regarding new investments and taking care of the citizen happiness. This time, the developers decided to develop social features through the integration of the game with Facebook.
At the beginning of the game, we have only a plot of undeveloped land. By carrying out the tasks in the tutorial, we learn the mechanics of the game and build the first buildings. Most of the activities require a specific portion of energy, which is regenerated with the passage of time. Caring for the development of the city, you receive cash, which allows you to buy buildings, as well as experience points. Advancing one's level unlocks new items in the built-in store.
Population growth depends largely on the level of the citizen satisfaction. If you give them the appropriate dose of entertainment and safety, more people will gladly move in. More people means more problems, however, and the risk of unexpected events. The players must be ready at all times for epidemics, fire, or even alien invasions. The creators also prepared an additional solution for the people who want to rule harshly and do not care for the well-being of residents.
Friends play a significant role in the game. In addition to visiting their cities, we can also affect its development and exchange special items to facilitate gameplay. Our achievements are posted on our wall.
SimCity Social the free-to-play business model. This means that all the basic features are available for free, but there is a possibility of buying special diamonds for real money. They allow you to purchase unique items accelerating expansion of your city or improve its appearance.
Visually, the game looks much like CityVille. The game is presented in isometric view. Graphics are mostly colorful. Users can choose buildings representing different architectural styles.
