Silly Sausage in Meat Land

Silly Sausage in Meat Land, released on AND and iOS, is a fun 2D platformer with a stretchy dachshund in the lead role. The title is another mobile game produced by independent Nitrome studio, known for such titles as Icebreaker: A Viking Voyage, Gunbrick, Platform Panic and Magic Touch: Wizard for Hire. The game was released in a free-to-play model with optional microtransactions.

Plot

Silly Sausage in Meat Land tells the story of a dachshund who travels a unique meat world. On closer inspection, however, the land - which at first glance appears to be a paradise for dogs - turns out to be a butcher's nightmare. It is full of dangers like prong collars, sharp butcher's knives and grinding machines.

Mechanics

Besides meat, our dachshund also tries to find green jewels. They unlock successive fragments of the single enormous level, the completion of which is the main challenge faced by the player. There are a total of fifty stages preceded by checkpoints - almost every new stage features new traps and solutions to diversify the journey.

Due to the way the dog moves, the game isn't a typical platformer. The animal has one unique skill - it can stretch its body. In part, this makes it difficult to play, because the player has to keep in mind more things than in a typical platformer. On the other hand, everything is happening at a relatively slow pace. Every move has to be planned so, to some extent, the game resembles logical game.

The idea for the mechanics of the game, evidently taken from the cult Snake, goes hand in hand with simple control, based on changing the direction in which the dachshund moves. Silly Sausage in Meat Land also has a lot of humour.
