Silent Hill: Townfall is a sequel to the popular survival horror series, the first part of which was released back in 1999. The new installment of the series was developed by the Scottish studio No Code, already known for such unique games as the adventure game Observation, in which we follow the events from the perspective of artificial intelligence, or Stories Untold - a horror game that is a combination of four separate stories. Townfall publisher is Annapurna Interactive - the company players discovered the release of cyberpunk adventure game Stray.
The title was announced on October 19, 2022, during Konami's Silent Hill: Transmission. In addition to a statement from No Code creative director Jon McKellan, an intriguing trailer for the studio's new game was presented during the transmission. Although it was emphasized that more information about the title will be released in early 2023, McKellan encouraged people to review the trailer again. As it turns out, one can find various secretly coded information in it. Among other things, players discovered a message that reads: "Thy flesh is weak" or a mysterious phrase hidden in the sound: "Whatever heart this town had has now stopped."
