Why Do We Enjoy Fear and Violence in Games?
Fear, sadness, anger – games often depict emotions and situations we wouldn't call positive... And still, we are enthralled by those games. Where does that contradiction come from?
Silent Hill 2: Restless Dreams Description
Silent Hill 2 is a classic in the survival horror genre. As James Sunderland you end up in an abandoned town of Silent Hill. In your head, you see the moments you spent with your dead wife. Why? You have to find out for yourself by playing one of the most terrifying horror games ever created.
Silent Hill 2 is an unusual game where the emphasis is not put on fighting monsters, but on building the atmosphere of fear. Thanks to that, it is more of a psychological horror, rather than a bloodbath. Of course, we do meet creatures from our worst nightmares, but the main theme are the memories of the protagonist. Our goal is to solve the mystery of the town… and our own mind.
Silent Hill 2 takes to the darkest corners of a human mind, and the secret that we uncover at the end of the journey is more terrifying and sorrowful than we can imagine. It is also worthy of mention that there are few endings. It is only up to us how the game will end.
- Incredible atmosphere.
- Soundtrack and graphics perfectly match the themes of the game.
- Enthralling and complex story.
