Similarly to its predecessor, the action of the game takes place during World War II – Silent Heroes enables us to assume control of a group of six Soviet saboteurs. The game offers a new campaign consisting of 10 scenarios, involving numerous actions behind the German lines.

Mechanics

Silent Heroes: Elite Troops of WWII for PC is the title of the first, stand-alone expansion for Soldiers: Heroes of World War II (known as Outfront in East European markets), a well-known real time strategy with a number of action-focused features. The game was developed by Dark Fox; one of the studios affiliated with 1C Company, a popular Eastern developer and publisher.

Plot

The add-on enables us to assume control over a group of six well-trained Soviet saboteurs that are sent deep behind the enemy lines. We are left with one new campaign, consisting of 10 complex scenarios that involve assassinations, destroying enemy structures, or taking over important strategic objects such as train stations.

Mechanics

The gameplay of the new add-on somewhat deviates from what we could see in the previous game, as our operations are mostly convert, taking place behind enemy lines. The players are left with a large arsenal of weaponry, including pistols, rifles, as well as knives, while almost every object or structure can be used to stage an ambush, used as shelter or a cover against enemy fire. Moreover, Elite Troops of WWII enables us to assume control over certain vehicles or chosen gun emplacements that can be used to fight off our enemy. As a response to backlash following the release of the previous game, the authors have decided to implement all of the fixes released up to the game’s release, as well as a number of smaller-scale updates to graphics and sound effects.
