Sid Meier's Covert Action is another of the numerous productions signed with the name of one of the most famous creators of the electronic entertainment industry. In this case, we are dealing with a simulator showing the work of an independent agent hired by the CIA to develop a terrorist sheikh. Most of the actions are observed from above, and mini-games play a key role in the whole game.
The main character is Maximilian (in the female version of Maxine) Remington, who is hired by an American intelligence agency to eliminate the threat from dangerous terrorists. In order to do this, we have to perform a number of actions that make up the whole gameplay scheme. Therefore, in the first place we have to obtain information concerning a given offender, e.g. by means of eavesdropping, intercepting confidential information, etc. The first thing we have to do is to obtain information concerning a given offender, e.g. by means of eavesdropping, intercepting confidential information, etc. When we manage to discover one of the hiding places of the wanted collection, we go to the place, try to sneak inside quietly and get as much useful information about his activities as possible.
Car chase sequences also play a significant role. If we are detected while a terrorist is being tracked, we have to show off with cars filled with criminals armed to the teeth. For this reason, it is important for the success of the action to be able to move at an appropriate distance from the observed vehicle.
All listed elements of the game have been introduced in the form of mini-games. These include both intrusion into enclosed spaces and cryptography to decrypt encrypted messages, often containing key hints.
Sid Meier's Covert Action has a two-dimensional graphic design that does not differ much from other titles from the turn of the 80s and 90s.
