Shred It! is an original three-dimensional arcade game released on XONE, AND etc., which belongs to the popular endless runners genre. The game was developed by Extra Mile Studios which specializes in games made for mobile platforms. They have also made a mobile conversion of Broken Sword 5: The Serpent's Curse. Shred It! debuted on mobile devices in the autumn of 2014, and a year and a half later it was released on the Xbox One console. However, while the mobile version is available in a typical free-to-play model (excluding Windows Phone edition), the console version is a paid product but it has no microtransactions.
Mechanics
In terms of the overall gameplay, Shred It! does not differ significantly from most other endless runners. During the game, we choose one of the five available characters, then we jump on a snowboard and observe the action from the third person perspective. Our character must avoid obstacles and jump over chasms. We have to avoid huge boulders, tree branches or dangerous wild animals. In each of the six worlds has various additional challenges waiting for us, as well as collectibles that will give us useful bonuses. As the game progresses, we unlock new models of snowboards and costumes, allowing you to modify the appearance of your character.
Game modes
Shred It! is a single-player game. Like most similar productions, the title offers online rankings, in which we can "race" with ourselves and other players. An interesting option is also the ability to share videos with our most impressive rides with community members.
Technical aspects
Shred It!, released on XONE, AND, etc., stands out from other endless runners mainly due to the unusual graphic design. The game's world is made with paper, which gives the production of Extra Mile Studios a unique character. The locations are atmospheric and the game features a dynamic day and night cycle.
