Shovel Knight Dig is a 2D platformer in which the title knight goes on a journey underground. The player must dig down the map, fight enemies, collect treasures and improve the hero's equipment. All this was shown in retro style, modelled on 16-bit productions.
Shovel Knight Dig is a two-dimensional platformer, spin-off of the popular Shovel Knight game. The authors of the second of these productions this time only helped in the production, and most of the work was done by Nitrome, known for such titles as Icebreaker: A Viking Voyage, Rust Bucket or Bomb Chicken.
Plot
The main character of the game is traditionally the title Shovel Knight, a knight who uses a shovel instead of a sword. The action starts when the evil Drill Knight plunges the treasures of our hero and escapes with them underground. We will, of course, go on pursuit.
Mechanics
Shovel Knight Dig is a 2D platformer, but with a different style from Shovel Knight. The player travels deep underground all the time, digging through soil layers. Along the way, we regularly find ourselves in chambers filled with enemies and valuable objects.
During the game, the player must eliminate enemies, avoid traps and other threats, and accumulate loot. The system of development diversifies the fun. As the campaign progresses, we gain better and better equipment, which increases the hero's capabilities.
The authors prepared a large set of hand-designed sections. The engine merges them together randomly, creating a map of the game world, so you can go through the production many times without feeling bored.
Game modes
The Shovel Knight Dig has a single player mode only.
Technical aspects
The authors abandoned the 8-bit style of the predecessor. Instead, we get a Nitrome studio-typical retro binding that's more like what 16-bit consoles offered. It was made in full color cartoon style.
