VG247: 3 / 5 by Kirk McKeand
Despite these annoyances, despite the fact that it’s a game designed with decades-old sensibilities, I enjoyed my time with it. It doesn’t have the conclusion we’ve been waiting two decades for and it barely drives the story forward at all, but the climactic battle is as satisfying as that 70-man tussle in the first game’s harbour.
Easy Allies: 7 / 10 by Michael Huber
Despite some glaring issues, Shenmue 3 authentically captures the spirit of its predecessors.
Destructoid: 7 / 10 by Chris Carter
I was torn writing this review as I went back and forth multiple times on whether or not Shenmue III's adherence to the past was worth the squeeze. In spurts, it's not. But as I walked back to Shenhua's cottage to turn in for the night after a hard day's work, earning back the money I had gambled away, it hit me: people just aren't making many games like this anymore. We may never even get something like this again if Shenmue IV isn't greenlit, which would be a shame.

Shenmue III Description
Shenmue III is the sequel to the Japanese action-RPG series, which started in 1999 on the Dreamcast console. Yu Suzuki, the creator of the third installment of the cycle, has decided to start developing the title fourteen years after the release of the last edition. Shenmue III has been partially funded by the fans through a Kickstarter campaign.
Shenmue III continues the suspended story of Ryo Hazuki, an adept of martial arts, searching for the men responsible for murdering his father. Together with his companion, a girl named Shenhua, Ryo embeds deeper into the complex and convoluted mystery.
The third installment of the cycle offers an open world and brand new fighting mechanics. The graphics for Shenmue III have been created using the Unreal Engine 4 technology.
