An online survival game developed by Free Reign Entertainment, a studio established by the creator of Infestation: Survivor Stories and Romero's Aftermath. The action of Shattered Skies takes place on Earth, devastated by a space cataclysm — the Moon was smashed to pieces by a comet, while our planet was infested with an alien life form that degraded the environment and turned people into monsters.
Shattered Skies for PC is a production of Free Reign Entertainment led by Sergey Titov. The developer is known to the fans of survival games for two titles: War Z (AKA Infestation: Survivor Stories) and Romero’s Aftermath.
Plot
The action of Shattered Skies takes place on Earth devastated by a space cataclysm. The Moon was hit by a comet which smashed it to pieces, which, in turn, rained the surface of out planet and causing great destruction. But it was not the worst thing that happened since our planet was also hit by fragments of a meteorite inhabited by an alien lifeform. It got to the Earth’s core and started to change the environment. If that wasn’t bad enough, humans turn into terrifying monsters. This is how our civilization was doomed — only a handful of people survived. The players assume the role of those survivors.
Mechanics
Shattered Skies for PC does not deviate significantly from other survival games. It’s a similar production to Infestation: Survivor Stories, DayZ, H1Z1: Just Survive, and the like. Our main task is to survive in a hostile world where we are threatened not only by monsters but also other players. Traversing open locations, we acquire various items that are helpful in surviving. Apart from that, we also have to remember about such basic needs as food and water.
The game world is traversed not only by us but also other people that we can interact with. Depending on whom we come across, we may be forced to fight for our lives and supplies or forge an alliance and start to cooperate or trade items.
The Earth in Shattered Skies is full of dangers but we can rest from the constant fight for survival by going to a survivors’ camp. However, if we are far away from it, it is a wise practice to barricade ourselves in some building. Barring the windows and setting traps, we can try to repel intrusive players and monsters.
Technical aspects
Shattered Skies for PC is powered by NightShade Engine that can generate vast areas full of various buildings that can be freely entered. The players can chose between first- and third- person view.
