shapez 2 PC

shapez 2 is a three-dimensional successor to shapez (also known as shapez.io). It's a combination of a strategy and a logical game in which we build a factory of the titular shapes, expand it, redesign it and improve processes. The production and release of the game is the responsibility of the seven-person independent studio tobspr Games, founded in 2018 by the creator of the first part of the game, Tobias Springer.

Gameplay

In shapez 2 we manage the extraction and processing of shapes in a constantly expanding factory on a space station. We must deliver the ordered products in a specific quantity, receiving new opportunities in return (e.g. additional floors), as well as new machines and upgrades. We obtain basic shapes from natural sources located around us, establishing increasingly distant mining platforms and conveyor belts. Then we process them as required, including: cutting, turning, painting and connecting together to create increasingly complex, even multi-layered products.

However, simply creating the required shape required is not enough for our factory to prosper. The key is to place machines and transport lines in such a way as to achieve the best possible production rate and avoid "traffic jams" that completely slow thingsdown. Sometimes the number of required copies of a given shape is so large that, with inefficient processes, obtaining an improvement would take long hours or in the case of complete congestion would never occur. Modifications are not limited by economic considerations, as removing and introducing structures is free. However, to speed up and facilitate the expansion of the factory, we can use the acquired points to use schematics, which allow us to copy entire sections of already built production lines.

Game modes

The game was made exclusively for one player and it features a challenge and a sandbox mode.

Engine and mods

The engine of the first game was rebuilt for shapez 2 to cope with the large game area and 3D models. The game supports gameplay modification through mods.
