The sixth installment of the platforming series Shantae. Shantae Advance: Risky Revolution is set between the first game and Shantae: Risky's Revenge.
Shantae Advance: Risky Revolution is the sixth Shantae game, originally meant to the the series' second installment. Work on this platformer began shortly before the release of the first game, but the developers have only created a demo due to a lack of interest from publishers. Years later, WayForward have decided to complete the project using tools from a time long passed.
Shantae Advance: Risky Revolution is set between the first Shantae and Shantae: Risky's Revenge. The game's protagonist is Shantae, a half-genie facing the villainous Risky Boots. The evil pirate has created a device called the Tremor Engine, which lets her affect Sequin Land's topography and plunder once safe villages.
Shantae Advance: Risky Revolution is a side-scroller. The player must traverse Sequin Land, jumping on platforms, avoiding traps, obstacles, swimming and fighting enemies. Shantae's main weapon is her hair, wielded like a whip. She can also transform into six different creatures (in addition to the four forms from the first game, she also gains the forms of a crab and a mermaid), granting her new abilities.
One interesting mechanic is moving between the foreground and the background using special gates. Shantae can also use the Tremor Engine to affect the world and change its topography, unlocking new areas.
Shantae Advance: Risky Revolution features a singleplayer campaign and competitive multiplayer for up to four people.
Shantae Advance: Risky Revolution was designed with the Game Boy Advance in mind, thus is makes use of colorful, cartoonish pixel art.

Game Ratings for Shantae Advance: Risky Revolution Video Game.
Entertainium: 4.5 / 5 by Eduardo Rebouças
One of the most colorful GBA games never released, Shantae Advance: Risky Revolution is very much worth letting the half-genie out of the bottle again for.

Shantae Advance: Risky Revolution is more than just a lost relic; it’s a reminder of how timeless great game design can be. With its mix of platforming, puzzle-solving, transformations, and memorable characters, it feels both nostalgic and fresh. Sure, it has a couple of quirks like the lack of a minimap, but the vibrant visuals, clever mechanics, and infectious personality more than make up for it. For long-time Shantae fans, this release is a must-buy. For newcomers who just enjoy retro-inspired adventures, it’s a nice, colourful ride that proves some treasures are worth digging up.
Cubed3: 8 / 10
Shantae Advance: Risky Revolution does a great job of feeling exactly like a Game Boy Advance game that holds up in the modern day. Despite limiting itself to the capabilities of a previous console, its presentation is incredibly charming even when not played in the modern style, and the game design on display is strong enough that Shantae Advance might actually surpass some of Shantae’s other recent outings. While some of its action-centric areas can get a little confusing to explore, and it never goes quite as cinematic in its set pieces as other games, the overall package is strong and series fans will not be disappointed.
