Shanghai Summer Description
Shanghai Summer is an adventure game set in Shanghai in 2003. The game was developed by the independent FUTU Studio, and its release was handled by Astrolabe Games.
Plot
The main character of Shanghai Summer is a young man - Tu Baichuan. The protagonist experiences anomalies in the form of incredibly realistic visions from his past. When one day he receives an invitation from his ex-girlfriend, Qiuyu, whom he has not seen for many years, he comes to the conclusion that his old hopes and regrets are heading to the culmination point. Whether this is indeed the case, will be determined over the course of the next twelve summer days.
Mechanics
In Shanghai Summer we watch the action from the side, in two dimensional form. We accompany Baichuan in everyday life, talking to his friends and other characters, as well as visiting locations such as a school, a bookstore or a local cafe.
As we progress, we collect Topics and Clues. Thanks to them, we learn more and more not only about the hero and his past, but also about the people surrounding him, such as Jingxian, who is struggling with family problems, or Fengyi, who is chasing dreams, which, if we let this happen, may be a source of comfort and inspiration for the hero.
Technical aspects
The graphic design of Shanghai Summer is set in a manga style.
