Seven Years War is a 1997 product of South Korean company HQ Team, which is a real-time strategy, resembling in many ways the second installment of the WarCraft cycle, titled Tides of Darkness.

The plot of the game focuses on two military campaigns that the Japanese shogun, Toyotomi Hideyoshi, carried out in Korea at the end of the 16th century. Extremely brutal raids resulted in the deaths of more than a million Koreans. Depending on the faction chosen, in Seven Years War we will conquer the peninsula, or protect it. The two nations (Japanese and Koreans) have separate sets of scenarios with a total of twenty missions.

The user interface used in Seven Years War is very similar to that of WarCraft II: Tides of Darkness, but contains one improvement - the ability to group any number of units. The Korean product is also reminiscent of Blizzard Entertainment's work in terms of gameplay mechanics - the supply of cash necessary for the development of the village and the army is provided by agricultural workers. Employees are also needed to build new buildings. We create military units in specially designed for this purpose constructions - in subsequent missions there are more and more well-trained soldiers. The Seven Years War also takes into account the daily cycle (time of day affects visibility) as well as changing climatic conditions. Rain is especially important, as it irrigates the fields and thus allows the plants to be harvested again.
