World of Goo Video Game Series
A series of puzzle games, reminiscent of the series Lemmings and Bridge Constructor. World of Goo is the work of 2D Boy studio, founded by a duo of independent developers Kyle Gabler and Ron Carmel.
A brief history of the World of Goo series
The first installment of the series, the game World of Goo, debuted on personal computers and the Nintendo Wii console in 2008.. The production was a great artistic success, enjoying high ratings from industry media and great popularity, as well as winning various awards (including for "design", "innovation" and "technical excellence" at the Independent Games Festival 2008). Over the years, the item has appeared on more platforms. In 2010 it hit iOS, in 2011 it arrived on Android, while in 2017 it was released on Nintendo Switch.
For some time after its release World of Goo developers argued that the item would not live to see a sequel. Nevertheless, as early as 2010, in a post on the game's blog, the developers made it clear that they had changed their minds and "the second World of Goo is possible." Fans of the brand, however, had to be patient, as the World of Goo 2 was not announced until December 2023, during The Game Awards gala. The production hits personal computers and Nintendo Switch on August 2, 2024.. The title repeated the artistic success of the original, according to Metacritic, enjoying average ratings from industry media, ranking well above 80/100.
Gameplay in games from the World of Goo series
Productions under the banner of World of Goo are two-dimensional puzzle games that allow us to take control of the balls from the title slush (goo - ooze, slush). During the game, our goal is to guide the "goo" through successive stages and lead them to the exit. To do this, we have to create bridges, towers, scaffolding and other constructions out of the sticky balls.. The matter is complicated by the fact that the laws of physics act on our creations, so they can collapse under their own weight or as a result of loss of balance.
As we progress, we get to more diverse and complex levels, gaining access to more types of "glutes", which are differentiated by weight and other properties. The graphic design of the games in the series is kept in a colorful, cartoonish style.

World of Goo is a logic-arcade game produced and published by Kyle Gabler and Ron Carmel, a two-person development team from the 2D Boy studio. The game, designed exclusively for one player, consists in building various constructions of gelatinous slurry balls, i.e. the title Goo, which is permanently disturbed by gravity and other laws of physics. The title, characterized by specific visual setting and original situational humour, was considered one of the most original games of 2008.
