Project CARS Video Game Series
A series of simulation racing games created by Slightly Mad Studio with the active participation of fans (supporting the developers financially and during open testing). Individual installments of the series are famous for their numerous single- and multiplayer modes, as well as extensive vehicle upgrading capabilities.
The first part, Project CARS, was released in 2015 on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It was also originally planned to be released on previous-generation consoles, but was abandoned due to technological limitations. The production was an introduction to the series' formula of simulation racing with a variety of cars. The final shape of the title was helped by gamers, actively providing advice to the developers.
Released in 2017 Project CARS 2 was a natural continuation of the series. The axis of play remained realistic car struggles, but the gameplay was enriched with numerous options allowing to modify the difficulty level (e.g. displaying the line of the optimal driving track). The number of locations was increased to 60, which translated into more than 130 routes, and about 180 vehicles divided into 28 categories were made available.
Players had to wait three years for the third installment. Due for release in 2020 Project CARS 3 was released on the same platforms as the previous parts, and after some time on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. This time the developers focused on expanding and improving the most important mode for the series - career. They also increased the number of available cars and made numerous gameplay improvements.
At the end of 2020, the first spin-off of the series premiered. Project CARS GO was released on mobile devices and was created in cooperation with Gamevil studio. The rules of play in this production do not differ from the main installments, it was only adapted for the lower computing power of the target platforms.
Unlike such brands as Need for Speed or Shift, Project CARS is geared towards a realistic rendering of the driving model of individual cars, rather than a typically arcade-like struggle. To deepen the simulation impression, the developers made it possible to modify numerous parts of the vehicles and personalize them in terms of appearance and performance. With each successive installment, however, more and more conveniences were introduced for players who prefer a typically entertaining driving system, including steering assist and reduced damage from hitting obstacles.
Despite the presence of numerous gameplay modes in all parts of the series, the most important has always been the career mode. In it, we get at our disposal our own garage, which can store up to dozens of vehicles, which we then use in races. For the results we get special points, which we then spend on improving the cars. In the third installment of the series also appeared the ability to personalize the appearance of the driver and create our own races. We can race on a variety of tracks modeled on those existing in reality, during different seasons, which affects the behavior of our car.
In technical terms, the PC versions of the game are the most impressive. They allow play in virtual reality goggles and display the image even in 12K.

September 22, 2017
A sequel to the successful racing game released in 2015 and developed by Slightly Mad Studios (the creators of Need for Speed: Shift and Shift 2: Unleashed). Since the game was partially financed on the World of Mass Development platform, players themselves were allowed to be a part of the development process. Similarly as in case of the first installment of the series, it is a realistic racing simulator. Less experienced players can enable various handicaps and assists to make the game less realistic. Project CARS 2 contains much more locations than its predecessor. There are more than 200 tracks to ride on by using various cars divided into 40 categories. The appearance and technical parameters of cars can be freely modified. The races take place in various single and multiplayer modes. The basic game mode is the single player campaign which can be played in cooperation with another player. Project CARS 2 also features online challenges and rankings.
