Sega 3D Classics Collection Description
Sega 3D Classics Collection (known in Japan as Sega 3D Fukkoku Archives 2) is a compilation of the most iconic games from the eighties, which can be found in Sega's catalogue. Behind its creation is the M2 studio, specializing in re-releases of older games. The compilation debuted in Japan in December 2015, and a few months later, in April 2016, its American launch took place, eventually appearing in Europe in November. Interestingly, the cover for the Japanese version was designed by Ken Sugimori - illustrator and artistic director of the Pokémon franchise.
The title is part of a larger cycle in which Sega regularly publishes classic titles from its portfolio on various platforms in order to remind players of the company's rich history. The Sega 3D Classics Collection for 3DS includes the following titles: Altered Beast, Thunder Blade, Power Drift, Galaxy Force II, Fantasy Zone, Fantasy Zone II W, Fantasy Zone II: The Tears of Opa-Opa, Puyo Puyo Tsu, Sonic the Hedgehog and Maze Hunter 3-D. Four of the above are not included in the Nintendo eShop offer, being an exclusive element of the compilation.
Technical aspects
Each of the productions included in Sega 3D Classics Collection has been refreshed and adapted to the specifics of the platform, including the implementation of stereoscopic 3D support. In addition, the player has the ability to adjust the controls to their own liking, save the progress at any moment, and apply a special filter on the screen, imitating an arcade machine.
