Second Extinction Description
Second Extinction is a shooter which foceses on a three-person co-op mode. The game challenges players to deal with the threat from mutated dinosaurs who managed to take control of Earth. Cooperation plays a key role in this game - players can use different skills and weapons, combining them to gain advantage over their enemies. The game was developed by Systemic Reaction studio.
Plot
Second Extinction takes place on Earth, but this is a planet very different from the one we know - it was captured by... bloodthirsty, mutated dinosaurs. The player takes on the role of a member of an organization called ERA, which is stationed on a space station and tries to understand the nature of the enemy and to reflect the world from his clawed paws.
Mechanics
Second Extinction is a classic first-person shooter ( FPS), which is similar in its gameplay mechanics to such series as Borderlands or Dead Island. Before starting the game, players choose one of several available characters with different skills and decide on a specific mission. It is worth noting that the world of the game is not open - each time we come across a large, but also meticulously designed location (gathered together they form a large map).
The gameplay is very intense - it is full of explosions and spectacular actions. Each time we have specific objectives depending on the mission, when we can achieve them, we still have to evacuate safely. Successes are rewarded - after returning to the base, we have the opportunity to buy new weapons or develop existing ones.
What distinguishes Second Extinction from other games of this type is obviously the character of the enemy. The developers have made sure that the dinosaurs differ in their abilities - for each of them we have to apply slightly different tactics, and cooperation with other players plays a key role here.
Game modes
In Second Extinction we can play alone or with others, but the game gets more interesting in the online co-op mode (it was prepared for three players).
Technical aspects
Second Extinction has a nice, three-dimensional graphic design that was created by using the APEX Engine developed by Avalanche Studios (known primarily for the Just Cause series of action adventure games). The projects of individual locations and monsters are really spectacular.
