Scribblenauts Showdown for SWITCH, PS4 and XONE is the sixth installment in a series of logic games, which has gained approval both among the players and the industry media. The game was created by 5th Cell – a studio that has developed the franchise from its very debut on Nintendo DS, which happened in 2009. The series is published by Warner Bros.
Plot
In the Scribblenauts series (with the exception of Scribblenauts Unmasked: A DC Comics Adventure, which operated based on slightly different rules) the player takes on the role of Maxwell – a boy who lives in a fantasy world and owns a magical notebook allowing him to create items he needs (the boy writes in the names of different things). This incredible treasure makes the protagonist capable of resolving issues causing distress among a lot of the land's inhabitants.
Mechanics
Scribblenauts Showdown for SWITCH, PS4 and XONE is a logic-adventure game. The player explores vast, two-dimensional levels and solves puzzles scattered around the game world. Those challenges are usually based on locking access to a place in a clever way. Freedom of approach is characteristic of Scribblenauts Showdown, as a given obstacle can be usually dealt with in a lot of different ways – the player does not have to search for the one specific solution the creators had in their minds. Everything depends on the player's imagination and creativity.
The game offers an extensive single-player campaign, as well as a variety of online and community functions, allowing the player mainly to have fun with others and to create their own levels, which can be shared with other players.
Technical aspects
Scribblenauts Showdown for SWITCH, PS4 and XONE offers two-dimensional visuals presented using a cartoonish graphic style. Both the map and character designs are expressive and colorful.
