A narrative FPP adventure game, created by the authors of Before Your Eyes. Goodnight Universe has us playing as a 6-month old boy names Isaac. He has supernatural psychic abilities. The protagonist must interact with the family, but also avoid a sinister tech corporation.
Goodnight Universe is a narrative adventure game with an artistic flair. The game was developed by the independent studio Nice Dream, founded by developers who previously delivered the genre-related Before Your Eyes.
In Goodnight Universe we play as six-month-old Isaac - a child with psychic abilities. Due to his skills, our character has become the target of a mysterious technology corporation. Meanwhile, the boy only desires love and acceptance from his family.
Even though the events we participate in can be fun, the story touches on sensitive topics, which can be heartbreaking.
In Goodnight Universe we watch the action from a first-person perspective (FPP). We accompany Isaac in his daily life, and also help him get used to his powers. The little hero can use his skills to help the household and also to try to get rid of the threat from the tech corporation. In addition to this, thanks to the interactions that Isaac has with his family members, we gradually get to know them better over time.
A characteristic feature of the previous project made by Nice Dream, Before Your Eyes, was the use of a camera to track the player's eyes. In this game, the authors went a step further, because it tracks the entire face of the person playing.
The graphic design of Goodnight Universe is maintained in a cartoon style.

Goodnight Universe is a fantastic take on the "interactive story" genre. It features a beautiful story, a great cast of characters, and a beautiful art style. Even if the gameplay is limited, the few segments that are present only add to the strength of the narrative, as you get to step into the world of a psychically-powered baby and all that entails. At such a small price and with a short runtime, Goodnight Universe is great if you're looking to immerse yourself in a science-fiction look at the wonder of childhood.

On the face of it, Goodnight Universe is a far-fetched, comedic tale about a baby with telekinetic powers. But really, this is a very touching tale about love and familial bonds. For fans of narrative-driven adventures, this is not to be missed.

Goodnight Universe is an incredibly immersive, masterfully told, and cathartic game that left me bawling my eyes out on multiple occasions. Accompanied by a soundtrack that beautifully expresses each emotional moment, a vivid animated art style, and a mechanic that directly ties the player’s actions to what is an undeniably moving, human story about love and family, it is perhaps one of the most truly evocative experiences I’ve had playing games this year.
