Scourge of War: Waterloo Description
Scourge of War: Waterloo for PC is the second installment of a highly-rated series of tactical real time strategy games, developed by an independent NorbSoftDev, also known from Take Command series. In opposition to the aforementioned series as well as the first installment of Scourge of War – the action of which took place during American Civil War – the new installment takes place in 1815, and allows us to take part in the battle of Waterloo.
Mechanics
The battle of Waterloo is one of the most famous battles in human history, in which the forces of Napoleon, just returning from his first exile, were defeated by English-Prussian coalition, led by Prince Wellington and Field Marshall von Blücher. The players can assume control over one of the sides, either proving that Napoleon’s faction still has some sway over Europe, or contribute to his final defeat by leading the armies of Seventh Coalition.
Scourge of War: Waterloo is similar to its predecessor when it comes to visuals and mechanics. The action of the game takes place on faithfully recreated, three-dimensional maps, while the players – depending on the type of the scenario – have input in the order of the battle on a few different levels, from a small regiment up to a large army. The developers decided to stand by realism – the clashes are influenced not only by tactics and manpower, but also by landform and weather conditions. Historic fidelity was achieved by means of accurately recreating the appearance and weaponry of individual forces. The game also contains all major characters and leaders that took part in the great battle.
