Saturn 9 is a science-fiction survival horror by an independent Raoghard studio, which has quite a lot of indie games created mainly for Xbox 360 users. The aim of the game is to investigate the situation on one of the spacecraft, with which unexpectedly the complete communication was lost. Travelling on a desolate ship, we will have to solve a number of riddles, which will give us an answer to the question of what actually happened to its crew?
The plot of the game is quite economical, and we get to know it mainly from the audio recordings discovered during the exploration. We hear the voices of a scientist, captain and on-board engineer - but none of them appeared to welcome you on the ship. Certainly something mysterious must have happened here and this is what we will try to explain during the game. Saturn 9 evokes inevitable associations with the Slender series. We do not use any weapons in it, only solving further riddles and surrendering to the suggestively built atmosphere. The authors skillfully play on players' feelings such as fear of darkness or unexpected death. An additional difficulty is the end of oxygen supply, which is the cause of growing, worrying visions.
From the technical point of view, the game looks exceptionally good for a low-budget, independent production. Graphic and sound design (including actors' voices) and a friendly help and hints system show that the creators took their work extremely seriously. The only serious disadvantage of Saturn 9 is its length. The game can be completed in about 30 minutes! However, considering the quality to price ratio (the game has been valued at 80 SMEs, i.e. about 1 USD), it is certainly worth devoting those few moments to it.
