Samurai & Dragons is a retreat enriched with strong strategic elements, produced by SEGA's in-house studio. The development team was headed by an experienced designer Masayoshi Kikuchi, who previously worked on the Yakuza series, Jet Set Radio and Panzer Dragon.
The plot revolves around the conflict between mankind and demons. The game is about developing the settlement in strategic mode and eliminating monsters. The latter takes place like in classic action games. There are many different monsters waiting to be defeated, including mummies, dragons and stallions. During adventures we find treasures and collect valuable items from the bodies of defeated enemies. The funds obtained in this way are then spent on expanding the city and training our own army of monsters. In the arcade mode we can play alone or in cooperation with the maximum need for colleagues.
Samurai & Dragons places great emphasis on network interactions. Expanding your own kingdom sooner or later you will come across lands controlled by other players. We can then bring about an armed conflict. It takes the form of a card game, and the winner is rewarded with an extension of his own domain by a part of the territory defeated. In multiplayer mode, the ultimate goal is to conquer the entire world.
The game has attractive graphics maintained in the style typical of Japanese comics. The world in which the action takes place is an interesting mixture of European fantasy with elements taken from the history of the Land of the Cherry Blossom. It is also worth mentioning that the authors took full advantage of the technological capabilities of PlayStation Vita. The control is performed by means of both keys, as well as touch screen and rear panel of the console. In addition, wireless communication has been used, so that the fun with a colleague sitting next to them goes far beyond what smartphone games offer.
