The adventure game plot, Salammbo, is based on the work of Gustave Flaubert and takes players back to ancient times, to the First Punic War (264-241 BC), when the proud city of Hannibal, Carthage, was attacked by the Romans. The mercenaries fighting on the Carthage side, tired of waiting for payment, rebelled against their employers and began the siege of the city. The player becomes a former slave called Spendius, now companion of Matho, the leader of the rebellious mercenaries. He is opportunistic, resigning from rules for immediate benefit, so he is more likely to hide in the shadows to save his life than to stand with weapons in his hand to fight the enemy. He definitely prefers a task of the type "imperceptibly get into an enemy city" rather than an open fight in the field of death and life. By becoming a player, he or she can get to know the lives of mercenaries at that time, use the chaos everywhere to gain power and fortune, as well as the heart of the title Salammbo, the daughter of the commander of Carthage's army, in love with the rebel leader Matho. The game has full three-dimensional graphics and a characteristic atmosphere filled with drama and symbolism, which is its undeniable advantage.
