Rytmos is a puzzle-music game in which we discover songs by solving puzzles. The game was developed by independent studio Floppy Club - a small Danish team, creating titles focused on sound and music.
Mechanics
In Rytmos the action was shown in isometric view. The game takes place on angular planets, each of which contains six puzzles. Puzzles are about leading a path through several black dots in such a way as to return to the starting point. With each solved puzzle we unlock the next tracks of the song playing on that planet. After solving all puzzles we can hear the full song.
In the game songs representing various genres from different parts of the world have been implemented - from Japan, through Africa to German electronic music from the 1970s. Apart from that, over time we gain access to various modifiers and instruments; the former allow us to experiment with the sound of songs playing on particular planets, while instruments allow us to enrich these songs with our own melodies.
Technical aspects
The colourful graphic design of Rytmos is kept in a simple yet clear style.
