Rygar: The Battle of Argus is a conversion of an action adventure game, Rygar, released in 2002 on a PS2 console. However, compared to its prototype, the Wii version has been slightly improved and adapted to support the unique Nintendo product controllers. More emphasis was also placed on the battle aspect of entertainment, although the adventure part was not neglected. On the Japanese market, the new Rygar operates with the Muscle Impact subtitle.
The game, in the background of which motifs from Greek Roman mythology alternate, we observe from the point of view of the third person. The player takes on the role of the title character of Rygar, a dead warrior, who this time has to save the princess from the hands of evil and bring peace to the island of Argus. The main mode of the game, which will lead us to our goal, is called Conquest, and for players who like to fight without any fictional overtones there is Gladiator mode. Here we have to face 30 waves of stronger and stronger enemies - every fifth wave ends with a boss fight, and finally we have a mega opponent waiting for us, which will not be seen in Conquest mode.
Rygar, as in the PS2 version mentioned above (as well as in the original 1986 dexterity game), uses Discarmor, a quite original and powerful weapon, as the main weapon. In a short circuit we can launch faster and more damaging attacks, while in distance fighting we can use a chain with which Discarmor is attached to the hand of Rygar - here you can choose between directing an attack or a wide arc mowing several enemies in one swoop. The above mentioned attacks can be combined in combosy by means of buttons A and B placed on the controller, while the force of the controller is increased in the last phase of the blow. Here it should also be noted that a different effect of a blow can be achieved by waving the controller vertically and another horizontally.
In response to appearing voices of players that the difficulty level of Rygar in PS2 version was a bit too low, the creators of The Battle of Argus modified this aspect of the game and added many of the opponents the possibility of blocking the blows inflicted on them.
