Rusty Lake Paradise is an adventure game, in which the player assumes the role of a son of a deceased woman. He travels to his family island that is harassed by ten biblical plagues. The gameplay features exploration, conversations with NPCs and riddle solving.

Rusty Lake Paradise is an adventure game released on PC, AND and iOS. The title was developed by Rusty Lake, a studio from Netherlands, which created previous entries in the series – Rusty Lake Hotel and Rusty Lake: Roots.

Plot

The player assumes the role of Jakob, the oldest son in the Eilanders family. After his mother died, he returns to the family island known as the Paradise. He discovers that his mother died in mysterious circumstances and, what’s worse, the area became the victim of the ten plagues – the same ones as from the Bible.

During the game the player must find the hidden memories of his mother and complete a series of weird rituals that are part of Jacob’s family’s tradition. It’s the only way to stop the plagues.

Mechanics

Rusty Lake Paradise for PC, AND and iOS is an adventure game. The players are exploring locations, speaking with non-playable characters and solving riddles. The title puts focus on the riddles that are challenging and unusual. The game doesn’t test player’s agility.

The variety of puzzles is a strong advantage of the game. The players must solve riddles related to ten plagues. Each of them features unique atmosphere, plot and riddle type. Additionally, the title features many varied achievements – unlocking all of them requires the player to become well familiarized with the hidden secrets of the island.

Technical aspects

Rusty Lake Paradise for PC, AND and iOS was made with great care. The title features attractive two-dimensional graphics. Pastel backgrounds, hand drawn by painter Johan Scherft, are especially impressive. The soundtrack is good as well – each plague features a unique theme.
