A point-and-click adventure game, in which the players assume the role of a robot cleaning a futuristic house. While performing his duties, the protagonist discovers secret passages and hidden rooms. This convinces him to try to solve the mystery of the house he works in.
Rumu is the debut game of the independent studio Robot House. It is a point-and-click adventure game developed for PC.
Plot
In Rumu for PC the players assume the role of the titular protagonist, a robot cleaning a futuristic house and gradually becoming more self-sentient. During the absence of his constructors, Rumu discovers secret passages and hidden rooms. The protagonist decides to reveal the mysteries of the house. He is accompanied by an artificial intelligence named Sabrina and he can sometimes interact with devices similar to himself.
Mechanics
In Rumu for PC the action is presented by using an isometric perspective. During the game the players are controlling the titular robot that travels through rooms, cleans dirt left by his owners and solves riddles that enable the story to move forward. From time to time Rumu must also make hard moral choices. The notes he finds on his path shed new light on the story told in the game.
Technical aspects
Despite its simplicity, the three-dimensional graphics of Rumu for PC is really enjoyable, mostly for their unusual style and nice looking colors. The soundtrack composed by Matt Mclean is worth mentioning, similarly to the fact that all dialogue lines were voiced over by professional actors.
